Over the weekend we published an article on ConservativeHome, expressing our strong concerns with the government’s decision to pass a law which will restrict people’s rights to sell tickets to live events.
As we have made clear throughout, this new law will not benefit anybody but event organisers, such as sporting bodies and music promoters, who will now be able to cancel tickets and blacklist fans at will, if they are caught trying to sell a ticket. The rights of ordinary fans have been totally overlooked.
There is, however, one piece of good news; the government has announced it will be undertaking a review of the ticket market over the next 12 months. This will allow us the opportunity to try and reverse this legislation next year.
If you haven’t already, we urge you to contact your local MP now via our website, and show your support for our campaign. It only takes two minutes, and will help to convince those in Westminster that this is a battle worth fighting over the months to come.
